The team coached by Diego Simeone formalized, in the League and in the Real Spanish Federation (RFEF) their complaint against Barcelona. They claim 80 million euros, from the transfer of Antoine Griezmann to the Catalan side.
Atletico considers that Barcelona must pay the total 200 million euros referring to the termination clause of the World Cup winner, which was contemplated at the date of negotiating with the player. The clause has dropped to 120 million after 30th of June, being the deal made official on the 12th of July by the blaugrana.
During the last meeting between the Delegated Comission of the League, where both clubs have their representants, Atletico demanded the difference: 80 million euros. Both the league and the RFEF are analyzing the case.
Griezmann’s lawyer, Sevan Karian, has said that ‘Antoine is very disappointed with the attitude of Atletico and of their leaders, who act with an hallucinating bad faith and say in public the opposite of what they said in private’. Karian, in an interview to L’Equipe, has also guaranteed that they “should do what it seems convenient and we will do the same if that is necessary’.
The French international Antoine Griezmann has already been integrated with the Barcelona squad and has trained with other players too. However, it seems this story is just starting and will be headlining many sports newspapers for the next months.
