Following weeks of speculation, Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen has been confirmed as the new signing of Inter Milan. The creative playmaker signed with the ‘Nerazzurri’ until 2024, allegedly for a fee of €18M.
The 27-year-old midfielder was ending his contract with Tottenham Hotspurs in the Summer. He had already said he had no intention of renewing with José Mourinho’s side, and the club decided to gather some profit from his sale.
In his first declarations as Inter player, Eriksen confessed he was quite anxious. “It’s beautiful to be here and I am very excited. Barely can’t wait to meet the fans”, he said, adding that he was not worried about his legacy from Spurs.
“I am aware that I had a good story in London and I am ready to face this new challenge”.

Christian was born in the small town of Middelfart, 47km away from Odense and 200km from Copenhagen. He started playing in his home town, before moving to Odense Boldklub, where he was spotted in 2008 by Ajax scouts.
Apparently, the young boy was targetted already by Real Madrid and Manchester United, but he decided to take a smaller step. “My first step should not be too big. I knew that playing in the Netherlands would be very good for my development”.
He only got a chance in the first team in 2010, when he was 17 years old. His first goal for Ajax came on the 25th of March when he scored in the 6×0 victory of the Dutch Cup against NAC Breda.
During his Ajax stint, the team topped the Eredivisie table 3 times and the KNVB Cup once. In August 2013, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspurs announced they had agreed on a fee of €12.45 million for Eriksen to move to North London.
Even though he became one of the most important players in the club, especially during Mauricio Pochettino’s reign, he never won any silverware with Spurs. However, last season Eriksen was part of the team who was runner up to the Champions League trophy, lost to Liverpool (2×0).
Eriksen is now moving to the Serie A table runners up, Inter Milan, where he will be coached by Antonio Conte. He will wear the number 24, apparently paying tribute to the late Kobe Bryant, who passed away on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Tottenham expects to cover the absence of Eriksen with Gedson, who was loaned last week. They also can count with Lo Celso, whose move was made permanent. The Argentinian has signed until 2025.
