It took €42M to convince PSV Eindhoven to let go Mexican Eindhoven to Serie A table side Napoli. The Italian club made the deal official this Friday morning, with the fee being the highest ever acquisition in Napoli’s history.
Hirving Lozano, who is known among his peers as ‘Chucky’ will earn a salary of €4,5 million per year and has signed for 5 years. The president of the club, Aurelio de Laurentiis, showed his approval for the signing of the young Mexican forward, who can play in most attacking positions, including winger and attacking mid.
Lozano, who has 35 caps with the Mexico national team and 9 goals, was revealed in the academy of local side Pachuca. He broke into the main Liga MX side in 2014, where he scored 41 goals in 143 appearances.
In 2017, PSV Eindhoven, one of the main teams on the Eredivisie table, of Netherlands, came calling and paid €12,50 for the youngster. It proved a bargain, as Lozano scored in the 3 first matches of the 2017-18 Eredivisie season, more than Ronaldo Nazario had done while he was playing in the same club.
He helped the club to win the Eredivisie in his first season and he played a total of 79 matches, where he scored 40 goals and made 23 assists. Now he will join a thirsty Napoli side, who already reinforced their defense with Greek wall Kostas Manolas, as we mentioned in our Serie A preview.
Napoli starts their Serie A schedule this weekend, with a trip to Florence, to play Fiorentina. Will they be able to start with the right foot? How many goals will Lozano score in his debut season for Napoli?
