It has been a long-running transfer in the headlines, but only in Premier League deadline day, it was actually confirmed. Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku is an Internazionale Milano player.
He will play in Serie A next season. Lukaku Inter signing happened for a reported fee of £77m.
The 1,90m striker born in Antwerp, Belgium, left Manchester United after two seasons in the Red Devils and he will play in Giuseppe Meazza.
You would probably be surprised at how old is Romelu Lukaku, as the Belgian is still only 26 years old.
Romelu Lukaku was a request from Antonio Conte, who expects the striker to lead the Nerazzurri attack next season.
Raised through the academy of Anderlecht, Lukaku arrived in 2011 in Chelsea, where he had his first experience in England.
However, José Mourinho, who was the coach at the time, probably thought that Romelu was too unexperienced and the player was sent on loan to West Brom and in 2013 to Everton.
The peak at Everton and the decline at United
In 2014, the Toffees made the deal permanent and Lukaku thrived in the Merseyside Blues. During 3 seasons in Goodison Park, the now 26 years old Belgian scored 53 goals in 110 appearances.
In the Summer of 2017, Jose Mourinho (the irony!) who was now in charge of Manchester United signed Lukaku to lead the frontline of the Red Devils. He arrived for a fee of £75 million, but he failed to impress the fans.
Still, in 96 appearances for United, he scored 42 goals, which show Romelu Lukaku stats aren’t that bad.
However, with the new coach in charge, Ole Solksjaer, the Belgian lost space in the team and it was a priority for Manchester United this Summer to sell him.
Now in Inter Milan, will he get back on track and lead the Italian team to a high place in Serie A table?
